Custom aerial photography is a great way to show a property and its surrounding area, the progress of a construction project, or the size and utilization of public, residential, or retail areas. Aerial photos can also show site plans and development potential - lot / property lines, drainage basin outlines, and roadway graphics are just a few examples of items that can be overlayed on the aerial. Aerial photographs can also aid in the investigation of accidents, legal and insurance claims, and much more.
Oblique aerial photos are taken from the side of the aircraft and provide an angled perspective of a site. Oblique photos can be taken at steep angles to isolate a site or a small area or at shallow angles that encompass a wide area and may include the horizon. Oblique aerials help to visually emphasize structures or properties in the foreground while showing their relationship to the surrounding environment. Low obliques - shot at lower altitudes between 1,000 and 5,000 feet Above Ground Level (AGL) - are a great way to get a close-up view in order to highlight a particular building, structure, construction site, intersection, residential development, or small property. High obliques - typically shot at 6,000 to 12,000 feet AGL - are used to capture a broad view of large areas such as parks, towns, cities, or even large sections of land such as townships. Clients often choose high obliques to emphasize a site's proximity to retail or community centers, entertainment venues or restaurants, industrial parks, schools, and/or medical facilities. A higher shot is the perfect way to illustrate an industrial, commercial, or municipal property's proximity to key rail spurs and high-volume roadways. Both high and low oblique photographs are invaluable marketing tools, but they can also be great presentation aids and historical benchmarks. They even make great gifts! Depending on what you need to include in the photo and how close you need to be, we will use the right equipment to get the job done. An airplane is great for most shots, but we may use a helicopter for low and close shots, especially in metro areas. We may also use a bucket truck for ultra-low altitude aerials. Confused by all of the options? Don't worry! We have the experience and expertise to help you decide which shot will best suit your needs. We can also provide sample images to help you better visualize the possibilities. All of our oblique photography is done with high quality professional digital aerial cameras. High quality lenses, gyro stabilization, and true 16.7 megapixel resolution provide the sharpest pictures possible. The digital file format means versatility for you - we can provide images electronically (via CD/DVD-ROM or FTP download) or we can produce razor sharp prints and enlargements as big as 4 feet by 6 feet with great results.
Vertical aerial photos - often referred to as photo maps - are taken from a camera mounted in the belly of the airplane. This gives you a straight down perspective of a site or area. Verticals can either be a single picture (called a spot shot) or series of 2 or more pictures stitched together to form a seamless map of a large area or even an entire city. (If there is a limit to the number of pictures that can be stitched together, we haven't found it yet!) Depending on the resolution you require, verticals can be flown at a variety of altitudes. Higher altitudes cover more area with fewer pictures while lower altitudes allow acquisition of truly high definition images.
