Artistic photo - star lights night photograph

December 21-31, 2009

"Star Light, Star Bright..."

Once again, as the year comes to a close and the holidays are upon us, we want to pay tribute to our service men and women who are unable to be with their families at this time. We recognize the sacrifices made by both them and their families. We thank all of them for their service, dedication, support, and sacrifice. Our wish is for happy family reunions to come quickly.

Aerial photo - partially harvested corn maze - rural Ohio

November 16-22, 2009

"Amazing Harvest"

After Halloween, kids and adults turn their attention away from corn mazes and pumpkins and start thinking about Christmas and Santa Claus. The farmers that host everyone's fall fun still have work to do, though - it's time to harvest the remaining corn and get it to market!

Aerial photo - Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland, OH

November 9-15, 2009

"Great Science"

This low and close aerial view of the Great Lakes Science Center museum in downtown Cleveland gives a neat view of the wind turbine and three shadows. One is real, the other two are paved outlines of the shadows. (We don't know the day and time the real shadow lines up with the artwork - if you do, please let us know!) Also visible in this photo are parts of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (upper right corner) and the William G. Mather Steamship Museum (top edge, left of center).

Aerial photo - fall view of a neighborhood near Akron, OH

November 2-8, 2009

"Suburban Splendor"

When neighborhoods are developed, they are often planned to have a consistent look. Some sub-divisions require everyone to have the same mailbox. This street near the city of Akron, Ohio, appears to have required red maple trees to be planted in everyone's tree lawn. We're sure this looks good from the ground, but we feel it takes an aerial photo to really appreciate the efforts of the planners!

October 5-11, 2009

"You Are Here"

North Baltimore, Ohio, lies at the tip of the giant arrow that is actually a huge construction site. CSX Transportation is building a new intermodal yard - a location where freight can be moved from rail cars to trucks and vice versa. The project will create many jobs in northwest Ohio, both during and after construction. When complete, the increased shipping efficiency will reportedly save billions of dollars in shipping costs and millions of gallons of fuel annually.

"Friday Night"

Nothing says September like Friday night at the local high school football game. Night time aerial photography can be very tricky - we don't have the option of using a tri-pod to keep the camera still for long exposures. However, the extra effort and practice needed is all worth while as the results are often spectacular.

Aerial photos are used for a variety of things - like marketing real estate or monitoring construction projects - but they can also be used to identify patterns that cannot be seen from the ground. The patterns can be artistic (whether intentional or not) such as this one seen in Pennsylvania, or they can reveal important information about an area such as erosion patterns or disease spreading in the vegetation.

There is a small window of opportunity in the late winter and early spring to get aerial photos that show a great deal of information. The air is crisp and clear so visibility is nearly unlimited. Roads and buildings can be seen more clearly because the trees are not full of leaves. Ground contours can also be seen more easily as the winter snows tend to flatten the grass and vegetation.

February 23 - March 1, 2009

"Now You See It, Now You Don't"

Sometimes a photo may have an unwanted item in it for whatever reason. In this case, the giant pumpkin - although it is very cool looking - makes this image "seasonal". By removing it, the photo can be used for marketing purposes year round. Above All - Ohio can retouch ANY photo, whether we took it for you or not. It could be an aerial, it could be a ground shot, it could even be a portrait. It may just need something removed or it may be an old faded or damaged photo. Whatever it is - we can fix it! Give us a call and let us turn (or return) your photos into perfectly clean and/or customized images!
