Our photos look best when viewed on a properly calibrated monitor. While not a true calibration, a quick and easy way to get close is to adjust your monitor until you can see all eleven (11) distinct shades of gray in the image below.

Aerial photo of Schneider Trucking intermodal yard, part of the Marion (Ohio) Industrial Center

April 13-19, 2009

"Marion's Thumb"

This 186 acre intermodal yard near Marion, Ohio, really sticks out from our aerial vantage point. The Marion Industrial Center (formerly a Department of Defense Engineering Depot) has about 1.3 million square feet of warehouse space under roof and hundreds of truck docks along a 1.5 mile length of State Route 309. The Marion Airport can be seen in the upper right corner of the photo.

Aerial photo of Beaver, PA, where the Beaver River empties into the Ohio River

April 6-12, 2009 Happy Easter!

"3 Towns, 5 Bridges, No Dams"

The Beaver River empties into the Ohio River between Beaver, PA, on the left and Rochester, PA, on the right. On the south side of the Ohio (in the lower right of the photo) is the town of Monaca.

Aerial photo of a junk (salvage) yard with several vintage cars and trucks

March 30 - April 5, 2009

"Vintage Vehicles"

This photo shows a salvage yard that is full of old cars and trucks. In the bigger version of this photo, you can easily count them and probably identify some of them. In the maximum resolution version, you can probably tell if they have that tail light you need for your '57 Chevy...

Aerial photo of a quarry, lake, and conveyeying equipment

March 23-29, 2009

"Quiet Quarry"

A calm day above a stone quarry made for an interesting photo opportunity. The smooth-as-glass, blue-green water contrasts nicely against the rough texture of the brown rocks as well as the spindly dark metallic conveyor arms.

Aerial photo of an office park in Independence, OH, a suburb of Cleveland

March 16-22, 2009 Happy St. Patrick's Day!

"Late Winter View"

There is a small window of opportunity in the late winter and early spring to get aerial photos that show a great deal of information. The air is crisp and clear so visibility is nearly unlimited. Roads and buildings can be seen more clearly because the trees are not full of leaves. Ground contours can also be seen more easily as the winter snows tend to flatten the grass and vegetation.

Aerial photo of Belle Isle in the Detroit River

March 2-8, 2009

"Blues and Greens"

It has been a long winter here in Ohio and we are looking forward to things greening up this spring. This colorful image is of Belle Isle - a 983-acre island located in the Detroit River on the U.S. - Canadian international border. In this photo looking southeast, Detroit, Michigan (U.S.A.) is on the bottom/right and Windsor, Ontario (Canada) is on the top/left. More information about Belle Isle can be found here.

February 23 - March 1, 2009

"Now You See It, Now You Don't"

Sometimes a photo may have an unwanted item in it for whatever reason. In this case, the giant pumpkin - although it is very cool looking - makes this image "seasonal". By removing it, the photo can be used for marketing purposes year round. Above All - Ohio can retouch ANY photo, whether we took it for you or not. It could be an aerial, it could be a ground shot, it could even be a portrait. It may just need something removed or it may be an old faded or damaged photo. Whatever it is - we can fix it! Give us a call and let us turn (or return) your photos into perfectly clean and/or customized images!

Aerial view of shadows cast by bare trees on the snow

February 16-22, 2009

"Optical Confusion"

Without the shadows cast on the smooth snow, it would be difficult to tell that this is an aerial photo of trees. One thing is clearly not an illusion - a path in the snow made by deer. It is the diagonal line on the right side of the image. Late winter and early spring are great times to order aerial photography if wildlife trails are of interest to you.

Aerial view of downtown Columbus, Ohio, looking northeast

February 9-15, 2009 Happy Valentine's Day!

"Columbus in Detail"

This view of downtown Columbus was taken from above the Scioto River looking northeast on a day with a thin overcast cloud cover. Pictures taken on bright sunny days are beautiful, but if you're interested in fine details that might be obscured by shadows, a day like this may be best for your site. Give us a call to discuss your needs and let us customize a flight for you!

Aerial photograph of Mall B in downtown Cleveland

February 2-8, 2009

"Mall B"

Downtown Cleveland is in the news again - and again with the proposed location of the new medical merchandise mart. This photo shows the site selected by Cuyahoga County commissioners - "Mall B" - sort of... The new medical mart (and a new convention center) will be built underground, replacing the existing convention center.

Aerial photograph of downtown Mansfield, Ohio

January 26 - February 1, 2009

"Downtown Mansfield, Ohio"

Mansfield, Ohio, lies about halfway between Cleveland and Columbus. It is home to several diverse industries including - most notably - carousel manufacturing and restoration. Perhaps its biggest claim to fame, however, is that it is the home of the Ohio State Reformatory - where much of the movie The Shawshank Redemption was filmed.

Aerial photograph of an icy Ohio River and power plant steam

January 19-25, 2009

"Steamy Cold"

When frigid temperatures hit, steam rising from many factories and power plants (such as this one along the Ohio River), crystalizes immediately. The icy plumes can not dissipate quickly, so they become very large and hang in the air. This one was pushed east by the wind and was easily 20 miles long.

Aerial photograph of the new Franklin County court house under construction in Columbus, Ohio

January 12-18, 2009

"New Franklin County Courthouse"

The new Franklin County Courthouse is taking shape in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Work started in the spring of 2008 and is expected to be complete in the fall of 2010. The final piece of steel was put into place in mid-December (2008), just a few days before this photo was taken.

A freighter on Lake Erie passes between some clumps of ice

January 1-11, 2009 Happy New Year!

"Icy Passage"

We were over Lake Erie when we spotted this ship navigating its way through the some icy patches. This photo was taken in early spring, so the ice here is melting, not forming.
