Geotagging may be the answer. It is the name given to the process of encoding latitude and longitude (and altitude) information directly into your digital photos. The information can be encoded invisibly into meta data and/or displayed directly on the image itself.

Geotagging gives you a powerful new option for organizing and retrieving your images - it gives you the ability to search for photos by geographic location in addition to the standard file name and date searches you already do.

Perhaps the biggest advantage, though, is that the information can be used to create an interactive, web-based map on which your photos can be plotted.
